Krungsri has promoted resource efficiency across all business units, being well aware that the Bank as a financial service provider exhausts a huge amount of consumables, most notably paper. Examples include the ‘Think before You Print’ campaign, the campaign of printing on both sides of the paper, and digitizing workflows. Therefore, energy and resources can be saved, while the environmental impact of the Bank’s business activities and service provision can be mitigated.
In 2010,
Krungsri and a subsidiary, Ayudhya Capital Auto Lease plc participated in the
Shred2Share Project: ‘Keep Information Secure while Caring for the Environment’of InfoZafe, a paper subsidiary of SCG. The project aimed for promoting responsibility for information security of corporations and customers while also caring for the environment among business partners. Its objective also include standardizing the secure information destruction process, along with responsibility for the environment and society.
The Shred2Share project comprises two main parts: Shred and Share.
“Shred” is keeping information confidential and securely disposing it. The project operator will destruct expired or unused data – such as financial documents, meeting documents, customer information, of the business partners which is kept in the form of paper – in accordance with international standards. Then, the shred documents will be sent for recycling turning them into new paper.
“Share” is to contribute for the environment and society. As for the environment, given that the shred documents are recycled into new paper, water is saved, and water and air pollution, as well as carbon dioxide, is reduced. For society, the project operator will make a contribution of 2,000 baht per a ton of documents sent for shredding and use it to procure educational supplies and textbooks for schools in need. Also, the awareness of environmental responsibility and information security will be cultivated in youths in an attempt to build the next generation of quality professionals.
In 2012, three more subsidiaries of Krungsri joined the Shred2Share project, namely
namely Ayudhya Capital Services Co., Ltd., Krungsri Asset Management Co., Ltd., and Krungsri Securities plc., adding the total number of participating companies to five to date.
The Shred2Share project not only meets the above-stated objectives, but also conform with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG 13: Climate Action, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
