Krungsri Breast Cancer Awareness Project

Krungsri Breast Cancer Awareness Project

Breast cancer is considered the most common type of cancer found in women across the globe. According to the National Cancer Institute’s cancer registry, there are about 20,000 new breast cancer patients per year among Thai women. That makes 55 patients per day and the annual number is likely to grow.

Krungsri is well aware that cancer-related illnesses can inflict suffering on patients due to symptoms which worsen their quality of life. Cancer is also a major obstacle to the country’s economic and social development. Considering this, Krungsri started the Krungsri Breast Cancer Awareness Project in 2010. The objective of the project, which receives support from the Breast Foundation under the Patronage of HRH The Princess Mother, is to contribute to the National eHealth Strategy through the project’s sub-activities as follows:
  • Organize training sessions and campaigns for the correct way of breast self-examination as instructed by experts
  • Provide financial assistance for clinical breast examination by healthcare personnel, provide support for mobile mammography units, medical equipment, and advanced techniques, including aiding breast cancer patients
  • Help women have quality and standardized breast examinations at the mobile mammography unit in the same manner as examinations at the Thanyarak Breast Center

In addition to achieving the aforesaid objectives, the Krungsri Breast Cancer Awareness Project also aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
